We set up the post-doctoral programme in nursing to promote the development of nursing in the direction of intelligence and human culture. The post-doctoral work at the college will focus mainly on three research topics:

(1) Combination of medical science and engineering

In-depth cross integration with materials, machinery and other disciplines, will promote an in-depth combination of nursing and engineering. This will result in improved materials and innovative methods, and improve the research level of wound injury and repair. It will also promote product research and development through mechanical engineering means, design, and manufacture. This could improve the common instruments, clinical equipment and auxiliary equipment used in nursing work. Research is aimed at improving the overall service level of the nursing industry, and so that both nurses and patients can enjoy the "sense of acquisition" brought by the development of science and technology.

(2) Combination of medicine and science

We will promote the development of nursing intellectualization through the interdisciplinary use of computers and information, relying on emerging technologies such as "Internet plus", big data, cloud computing and artificial intelligence. We will promote the rapid development of medical and health data collection, sorting, retrieval and analysis direction through software design and algorithm research, and promote remote health assessment, supervision, nursing diagnosis and nursing evaluation. We will also investigate technical innovations and development of chronic disease management and continuous nursing e.g. health education. Furthermore, we will promote the intelligent research and development of current disciplines in elderly cognitive impairment, cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease and other chronic disease management, and senile weakness and assessment.

(3) Combination of medicine and literature

Through the integration with management, society and other disciplines, we can improve the humanistic characteristics of nursing and promote connotative development. We aim to promote the research and establishment of clinical psychology nursing intervention; to update the concept of clinical nursing management, to promote the improvement of clinical nursing management in the aspects of administration, business, supervision, training and clinical pathways; to philosophically think about the connotation of nursing, to philosophically reflect on the concept and development of nursing, nursing science and nursing research, and to explore the connotations and development of nursing from a deeper perspective, and to explore the development direction of nursing from a philosophical view point.
